¹⁶ Bend your ear, O Lord, and hear. Open your eyes, O Lord, and see. Hear the words that Sennacherib has sent to taunt the living God. ¹⁷ It is true, O Lord, that the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands. ¹⁸ They have cast their gods into the flames, for they were not really gods. They were only the work of human hands, made from wood and stone.
